County of Monterey Salinas, CA - 2003

  New Building: 125k s.f. - Project Cost: $22.5MM
Renovations: North, East, and West Wing: $40.5MM

The site is the existing Monterey administration county seat. The project included a new   Administration building and complete renovations of three (3) existing buildings. Special attention   was paid to creating a phasing plan which would allow the existing occupants and functions of the   county to be maintained throughout construction. The scope includes: destructive testing,   abatement, temporary offices, and construction & renovations.

A "Programming Review Board" was created with the design team to interview user groupes and   allocate percentages of the new space to the existing twenty-two (22) county departments. A   complex system with weighted values was designed especially for this use. The design services and   construction scopes included participation of local architects and contractors.
